Russian Veronica Kodermetova, ranked 38 in the world, was crowned today the US tennis tournament in Charleston after winning the final round of the tournament over Danka Kovinic from Montenegro.
The 23-year-old Russian player managed to settle the final match in her favor with two clean groups, 6-4 and 6-2, within one hour and 37 minutes.
It is noteworthy that this title was Kodermitova's first in her singles career.
The President of the Russian Tennis Federation, Shamil Tarbyshev, said earlier that if Kodermitova is crowned the Charleston title, she will be selected in the Russian team participating in the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
