“There are two options: Either you finish the season somehow or it is canceled.

Favorite fright

After the first quarter of the season it looked like the Kammerberger could even attack the favorites.

Four wins in a row and a good reaction to the first defeat - a great record.

“The start was outstanding.

We played football very well, ”said Koston looking back.

For the half of the season, the game association was level on points with the promotion relegation place in third place.

“The winter preparation was sensational.

The fitness level and the way we played was outstanding, ”said the 30-year-old.

The corona pandemic thwarted plans.

"After the restart we weren't that good anymore," said Koston.

His analysis was ruthless: “Not having made more runs in preparation was a mistake.

I'm chalking that up.

Compared to the preparatory game against Rohrbach in March, we were three classes worse in the league games. ”Four points from four games, including a hard-fought win against the table penultimate Finsing.

“The low point was the game in Sulzemoos,” says Koston.

"If we had won there, we could have looked up again," said the coach.

His team brought nothing on the chain and received a 0-1 defeat.

“We put the game in Sulzemoos in the sand to such an extent.

The second half was our worst we played this season, ”said the coach.

So the Kammerbergers can relax and wait to see if and if so, when it will continue.

An excitement

The departure of the Streit brothers Kevin and Robin after the season.

For them it's in the A-class at TSV Schiltberg.

There they become player-coach.

The game association will have to find a replacement for Robin on the pitch.

The striker is the top scorer of the current season with 20 goals in 22 appearances.

The game association is heading for the second-best result in the club's history.

The Kammerbergers have only been better once since their promotion in 2014: Under Koston's predecessor Manuel Haupt, they just missed the promotion relegation as third in the 2017/18 season.

And the termination of this result seemed possible.

But Koston is ambitious, he wants to make his team better - and develop himself further.

In an interview with the Dachauer Nachrichten, he reveals what he thinks about his first district league season, what he plans to do in the future and how to find a replacement for a dispute.

Do you remember the last time you played so little football?

Koston:

I've been playing since I was six.

The cabin climate is missing, as is the smell of the lawn.

I don't really know it any other way to go to school or work on Monday broken - sometimes in a better, sometimes in a bad mood.

And how are you coping with the situation?

It's just something else.

I have more time for my wife, family and friends.

I cycle and hike.

And I have free evenings that weren't there before - that's nice, but also unusual.

I'm looking forward to the day when it will go on again.

How do you compensate for the lack of time on the football field?

I watch football a lot.

Whether the Bundesliga, the 2nd Bundesliga, the 3rd division or the top European leagues - that interests me. And I also put on my coaching glasses.

The standards of Freiburg or Union Berlin are very good, you can get something out of that.

But football on television is not a substitute for time on or off the pitch.

Please explain!

The mood in the amateur area is something very special.

I've always enjoyed going to the sports fields to watch amateur games.

No matter whether C-Class or Bayernliga.

There are funny scenes, you meet people.

That's missing.

Do you have a lot of contact with your players?

Or are you alienated?

We are in contact and I know that everyone is dying to keep it going.

We have great characters on the team.

My predecessor Manuel Haupt and the team managers Gerhard Güntner and now Klaus Kollmair always paid attention to this.

Many are friends and meet in their free time.

We even have a tennis round.

Seven or eight players are there.

Niki Kiermeier, Tim Bürchner and Benni Hofmann are good.

Well, otherwise I would describe the games as 'high-class, low-level matches'.

Unfortunately, tennis isn't an option right now.

Back to football: How do you rate your first season in the district league?

It is of course a special situation.

The conclusion is positive.

Sixth place is okay.

But I always want to develop myself further.

Experience is also valuable, such as preparing for the restart, which was not ideal.

The Streit brothers will leave you after the season.

Do you still feel that you are well positioned?

We are on the right track with our squad planning.

Sure, the departure of the Streit brothers hurts.

But we might be able to announce a few new additions soon.

And that would be the end of the squad planning.
