The Russian team Nizhny Novgorod was selected to host the final 8 of the FIBA Champions Cup after being preferred over Holon.
It is no secret that since it rose to the top 8, Holon has invested great efforts and involved many factors in order for the event to be held in Israel.
In the end it will not help.
The basketball association that contributed to the efforts issued the following announcement: "The basketball association is disappointed with the decision not to hold the Final 8 tournament of the FIBA Champions League in Israel. In recent days the association, the Ministry of Sports, Hapoel Holon and many others have made tremendous efforts to bring this important event To the ground.
"We are convinced that, as has happened quite a bit in recent years, we will continue to bring prestigious international basketball events to Israel, which will help promote basketball in the country and the enjoyment of the many basketball fans."
It should be noted that the Final 8 games will begin on May 5th.
The draw for the quarter-finals will be held on the 21st of the month and the possible rivals of Holon are: Burgos, Saragosa and Strasbourg.
Holon will probably be content with hosting the Final Four of the Balkan League at the end of the month.
Next weekend, the European Cup Final Four will be held, in which the city of Ness Ziona will take part in the Yad Eliyahu Sports Hall.
