Real Madrid have prevailed against Liverpool and are in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

In the second leg at Anfield Road the Madrilenians achieved a 0-0, the first leg a week ago in Madrid Real had won 3-1 (2-0).

At the beginning, it was clear to the Liverpoolers that they had to catch up: Mohamed Salah had the first big chance early on, while Thibaut Courtois saved his shot from close range with a defensive foot (2nd minute).

Courtois was also on hand when James Milner took a swing and fished the ball out of the corner (11th).

In the course of the first half, Real managed better to calm the game, the ball-safe midfield around the recently strong Toni Kroos relieved their own defense again and again.

After winning a large ball, Karim Benzema even had the chance to take the lead, his deflected shot landed on the post (20th).

Only in the minutes before the break whistle did Liverpool develop more traction again, Georginio Wijnaldum shot over the gate from a promising position (42nd).

Immediately after the restart, Roberto Firmino came from close range for the next dangerous shot (46.).

But Jürgen Klopp's team not only lacked luck in the final, the Reds no longer put Real under so much pressure that the Madrilenians had a lot of problems.

After a long idle phase, Alisson had to save on the other side in a counterattack by the guests against Vinícius Júnior (66th), for Liverpool Diogo Jota only hit the outside netting (70th).

Karim Benzema had the chance to make everything clear for Real with a header from seven meters (81st), but the Spaniards managed to progress confidently over time even without their own goal.

In the semi-finals on May 5, Real will now face Chelsea.

Coach Thomas Tuchel's team prevailed against FC Porto on Tuesday evening.
