TSV 1860 Munich is back in the middle of the fight for the promotion ranks.

Returnees Richard "Richy" Neudecker speaks in an interview before the derby against Türkgücü.

Munich - A corner template for Semi Belkahia in the 3: 1 against KFC Uerdingen, now the header to 3: 2 against Verl - it works for Richard "Richy" Neudecker, who returned from the Lion.

In an interview with Münchner Merkur, the 24-year-old speaks about self-criticism, psychology in the promotion battle and the upcoming derby against Türkgücü in the Olympic Stadium.

Richy, all the best for your header against SC Verl. Press and currently stadium announcer Rainer Kmeth spontaneously named you on Saturday as a "headball monster".

And rightly so.

It couldn't be more aptly said (laughs).

Do you put your overall balance sheet in one answer?

I try it.

My first header was with the sixty amateurs against Burghausen, the second I scored for St. Pauli against Darmstadt.

And the third ... now against Verl (grins).

TSV 1860 Munich: Neudecker dissatisfied with personal results - "Of course, constancy is paramount"

Overall, it was your fourth goal of the season in seven assists.

Happy with the numbers?

No, I am not yet satisfied with my personal yield.

The scorer points were okay in the last two games, but overall that's not enough.

In the seven games that we have left to the end, I still want to break something.

How many goals and assists would you be happy with as an attacking midfielder?

I don't want to fix it to the scorer points alone.

It's also about how often I play the penultimate pass to the goal, or how often I manage to get an opening ball out of the pressure.

To be honest, that's just as interesting for me.

Of course, consistency is paramount.

Not just one good half, like the other day against Uerdingen, but two.

I wasn't happy with myself against Verl either.

After 70 minutes I was tired and had to go out.

I actually felt really good before the game.

Maybe I just didn't have a good day.

So much self-criticism is not common in professional football.

You didn't mince your words after the game when it came to team performance.

Verl had "played out" sixty with one man less.

How was the echo?

There were different reactions.

Not everyone in the team shared my impression.

The coach partially agreed with me in the video analysis, but he also emphasized the good things: the forms of play that we implemented, the way in which we got our chances and goals.

Maybe my choice of words was a bit excessive in retrospect.

I just had the impression that Verl let the ball run very well, which would have been our job at eleven against ten.

TSV 1860 Munich: "Lack of effectiveness" as the cause of the crash that happened in the meantime

While we're at the point of criticizing.

In your opinion, what were the reasons why there was a risk of losing touch in 1860?

If you take the Saarbrücken game apart, where we were just bad in every respect, then it was mainly due to the lack of effectiveness.

We had really good chances against Meppen, Zwickau and Duisburg that we didn't use.

Overall, we may have concentrated too much on playing good football instead of pushing each other when we defended something.

It's different now.

How important was the win against Dynamo Dresden in this regard?

Dresden was one of the best game of the season.

We were good at football, tactics and fighting skills.

The late goal from Steini (Phillipp Steinhart, d. Red.) Was of course the crowning glory.

Neudecker: "I have no good memories of the Olympic Stadium"

Is it so much easier to be a hunter than to be hunted?

It doesn't matter to me.

In the team, we said to ourselves before the Dresden game that we really only think from one game to the next and ignore everything else because it won't do anything anyway.

You get psychological problems if you just keep the end of the season in mind.

Now Türkgücü counts, nothing else.

How hot are you to the revenge for the Totopokal-Aus?

You said revenge.

I'm looking forward to a good game on Saturday that will see a lot of fire in it.

We want to show our best performance.

And then we see what comes out of it.

Are you also looking forward to the Olympic Stadium?

I've never been there myself and associate it more with concerts than with football.

It sure is something special to be able to play there.

But honestly ...

Yes?

I don't have good memories of the Olympic Stadium because I am always reminded of the lactate tests next to the Werner-von-Linde-Halle.

That is not necessarily the highlight of the preparation (laughs).
