He will change his jersey, but faster than expected.

Gaël Fickou, who was to leave the Stade Français to join Racing 92 next season, will begin his adventure with the Hauts-de-Seine club in the coming days, according to information from RMC Sport.

The three-quarter international center (27 years old, 63 caps) will therefore end the season under the colors of the current third in the Top 14. The transfer could be effective in the coming days.

The player was to play his last match with the capital club this Saturday during the derby against Racing 92. But the match was postponed Thursday to the weekend of May 1 due to the isolation of the entire Ciel et Blanc workforce after its quarter-final of the European Cup lost on the lawn of Bordeaux-Bègles (24-21) on Sunday.

Since then, two Gironde frontline players have tested positive for the English variant of Covid-19 and the National Rugby League has preferred to avoid any risk of massive contamination by isolating the Racingmen until Monday.

Arrived in 2018 at the Stade Français, Gaël Fickou was to sign up for four seasons at Racing 92 from July 1.

A departure which made it possible to lighten the payroll of the capital club and allow Racing 92 to reconstitute, with Virimi Vakatawa, the pair of centers of the XV of France.

The transfer will be done prematurely, thanks to a change in the transfer rule by the League's executive committee on April 8.

This allows clubs to enroll an additional player or a medical joker from April 9 to 30 “given the context of the health crisis”.

Racing 92, which is currently facing injuries to Vakatawa and its captain Henry Chavancy, jumped at the chance.
