The French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, called on Tuesday to stand up against the creation of the Super League, a private football competition intended to supplant the Champions League, which according to him consecrates the “king money system”.
"It is the drift of a system, the one which puts money into football before the party, which is the system of king's money, which excludes merit, solidarity," he said on France Info radio.
"We must exclude this type of closed competition, based on money, period," he added.
