"Football belongs to the fans", death of the Super League, "Let's keep dreaming": the world of English football relieved

A few minutes after the announcement of the English clubs to withdraw from the Super League project, many actors or former residents of the Premier League reacted with more or less humor. 


Everything is going so fast in football, the project of "Super League" in England which turned into a fiasco in 48 hours proves it again.

Following the withdrawal of all English clubs, the time has come for relief for many players across the Channel and former residents of the Premier League.

Starting with Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool Reds legend had fun posting a gravestone signifying the birth (April 18, 2021 and death (April 20, 2021) of the Super League. In a more casual style, the Former Manchester United player turned consultant Gary Neville relayed a photo of himself celebrating the latest news over a glass of wine.

The two French footballers from Manchester City did not fail to celebrate the withdrawal of all English clubs in this project.

Defender Benjamin Mendy expressed a message of joy: “What a wonderful day for football.

Keep playing, keep fighting, keep dreaming.

This is the very first reason we do this!

Aymeric Laporte relayed a letter from him expressing his satisfaction that this project does not come to an end.

Raheem Sterling was more sober when it came to tweeting: "Ok goodbye".

Yet far from the English elite since his departure for Fenerbahçe, Mesut Özil relayed a photo of the SüperLig, the name of the Turkish championship in which he is currently playing explaining that there is only one "Super League".

A message full of irony which reminds us that the supporters won this fight.

Another Gunners, Cesc Fabregas salutes all those who have taken to the streets of England to challenge this decision, recalling "that this magnificent sport is nothing without you".

The current FC Barcelona defender and former Manchester United defender Gerard Piqué recalled that "football belongs to the supporters, now more than ever".
