It was expected, it is now a certainty.
Bilbao and Dublin will not host Euro 2021 matches (June 11-July 11).
It was UEFA vice-president Zbigniew Boniek who made the official announcement on Friday at noon.
The Basque city is replaced by Sevilla while the matches which were to take place in Dublin have been relocated to Saint Petersburg, even if Manchester had been mentioned as a fallback solution at first.
The four matches scheduled in Bilbao (three in Group E and a round of 16) will therefore take place at the Cartuja stadium in Seville.
Those from Dublin (three from Group E and an eighth also) therefore return to Saint Petersburg.
The Russian city was already due to host three Group B games and a quarter-final.
If it was chosen, it is because the schedule of matches which are already planned there (group B) is compatible with those which were initially planned in Dublin.
The round of 16 scheduled for Ireland will be played at Wembley in London.
Munich remains host city
Bilbao and Dublin could no longer meet the specifications of UEFA, which wants to have an audience in the stadiums (25% level).
On the other hand, if there were any doubts about the Allianz Arena in Munich, they were lifted.
The city of Munich will welcome the Euro.
The 11 cities of the Euro will therefore be Rome, London, Amsterdam, Baku, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Munich, Saint Petersburg and Seville. Boniek explained that UEFA would now have to rework on "logistics, accommodation and travel".
