While Bayern Munich is close to the ninth series championship in the Bundesliga, the La Liga title race is closer than it has been in years.
FC Barcelona won 5-2 (3-1) at home against Getafe in the evening and displaced Sevilla FC from third place.
Previously, Atlético Madrid had won 2-0 (1-0) against SD Huesca.
The constellation in Spain is still exciting: Atlético is first in the table with 73 points from 32 games. Real Madrid follow in second place (70 points from 32 games), then come Barcelona (68 from 31) and Seville (67 from 32). First and fourth place separate six points after the 32nd of 38 match days. The last time it was in La Liga was in 2007, when Real Madrid won the championship with David Beckham and Roberto Carlos in the squad.
A few weeks ago it was not foreseeable that things would be so tight at the moment. Because actually Atlético already looked like the sure title winner. At the beginning of February, coach Diego Simeone's team was ten points ahead of the competition and also played one game less. But Atlético's gradual loss of form paired with better performances by their pursuers give Spain a gripping spurt at the end of the season.
In Barcelona's success over Getafe, Lionel Messi was once again the focus with two goals (8th / 33rd minute).
In addition, there was an own goal by the guests by Sofian Chakla (28th).
Ronald Araujo (87th) and Antoine Griezmann (90th + 3 minutes / penalty kick) ensured a clear result late.
Getafe equalized initially with an own goal by Clement Lenglet to make it 1-1 (12th), while substitute Enes Ünal scored with a penalty kick (69th).
