He was a nimble striker and played the defenders row after row dizzy.

Kurt Dworschak not only celebrated great successes with the Munich Lions, but also with SpVgg Landshut and his home club BSG Taufkirchen.

Taufkirchen - It was a lion's title for the history books - even if it was "only" the A-Juniors.

In the 1981/82 season, TSV 1860 Munich upgraded the youngsters to compete with the dominant FC Bayern and the hardly weaker FC Augsburg in the Bayernliga Süd.

Among other things, Kurt Dworschak came from Landshut.

The plan worked: In the season finale, TSV 1860 outstripped Bayern and Augsburg.

In the final of the Bavarian championship against the northern champions and big favorites 1. FC Nürnberg, the Lions held up to eight minutes before the end against overwhelmingly superior Nürnberg a 1-1, then Dworschak made it 2-1 for the outsider's victory .

The footballing path is not mapped out for Dworschak. Like his cousin Werner Huber and his friends Norbert Heigl, Rainer Fleck, Manfred Heilmeier, Alfred Rath and Albert Bartl, he has been chasing the ball on football fields and vacant lots in Taufkirchen since early childhood. Dworschak often has a "home advantage" because father Silvester makes his own garden available as a playing field. Kurt's desire to play at the BSG in Taufkirchen fails because of his age, because at the age of nine he has absolutely no chance of being used in the student team (C-youth; from 14 years).

Albert Eichinger then guides his nephew to the neighboring club SC Moosen.

After a year, the change takes place in the newly formed C 2 youth of the BSG Himolla Taufkirchen, where the young boy will later play in the A youth as a B youth and with Manfred Heilmeier also in the district selection.

Dworschak's talent is noticeable and SpVgg Landshut brought him to the A youth Bayern league team in 1980/81.

Impressed by Walter Hainer

There he was particularly impressed by Walter Hainer (“He was the best player I have ever played with”), who switched to TSV 1860 as a professional that same year.

Years later they both play together again in the Bayern League team of the "Spiele" Landshut, which, to everyone's surprise, wins the Bayern League championship ahead of the Munich Lions.

Landshut is followed by invitations to Bayern selection, and Dworschak is awarded the top scorer at an international tournament in South Tyrol.

But the youth career of the Taufkirchener has other highlights ready. Richard "Richie" Müller, then youth leader and later president of TSV 1860 Munich, and coach Kurt Schwarzhuber convince Dworschak to move to the state capital in 1981. As always, long-term champions FC Bayern and FC Augsburg dominate the preliminary round. the happening. The lions use the winter break to travel to the Philippines and Singapore to play games. The encounters in front of thousands of spectators and the ambience left lasting impressions on the young players, "and a team spirit developed that was decisive in the championship race," remembers Dworschak. At the end there is the Bavarian Championship. After TSV 1860 prevailed in the round of 16 for the German championship against Bayer Leverkusen (2: 3, 3: 0),is in the quarter-finals against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (0: 2, 2: 1). Incidentally, there is still very good contact with the now 84-year-old Müller, says Dworschak. While the A-youth experienced a high, at the same time as the insolvency-related forced relegation of the professional team to the Bayernliga, as fourth in the second division, a tragedy for the 1860s fans occurs.

Some youth players, including Dworschak, are transferred to the Bayern league squad, but where it was difficult to prevail against more established players.

"The TSV 1860 was the attraction of the Bavarian League," remembers Dworschak.

“The crowd was particularly impressive.

Up to 15,000 fans accompanied us at the away games, and that in stadiums that weren't suitable for them. ”A special game of the current season is the DFB Cup game at his home club BSG Himolla Taufkirchen, where the favorite wins 4-1 and he contributed a hit.

Three times Lower Bavarian cup winner with Landshut

After two eventful years with the Löwen, Dworschak decided to study medicine and returned to SpVgg Landshut, which also played in the Bavarian League, in the 1983/84 season.

In the following six rounds, the "games" won the Lower Bavarian Cup three times.

1985/86 the team had a fabulous season, with an average of several thousand spectators per home game, and secured the championship title by one point ahead of TSV 1860. However, the joy is clouded because the club officials have not applied for a license, and participation in the promotion games to the 2nd league is not possible.

At least the "games" are allowed to participate in the German amateur championship and at least reach the semi-finals.

In his six years with the Landshut team, Dworschak has had several coaches and is full of praise, especially for three of his instructors: “Player-coach Sigi Gmahl was actually ahead of his time. It offered varied, technically demanding training with realistic game situations. He laid the foundation for the later success of the Bayern league championship. ”Carsten Wettberg, the coach of the Landshut championship team, experiences Dworschak as a“ brilliant motivator and football crazy ”, and beyond the field as a very differentiated, pleasant person. “Horst Pohl was a footballer through and through, he would have loved to play himself. His strong nerves were admirable during a series of defeats that did not affect the good mood in the team ”.Over the years, the burdens in what was then the third division are “not insignificant”, but Dworschak pursues his medical studies with determination, always supported by his wife Conny.

After the winter break in 1988/89, the second state examination is due.

The Taufkirchen resident is temporarily interrupting his football career and concentrates exclusively on medicine.

"Whenever I was stressed about studying, I was a class worse on the pitch," says Dworschak with a laugh.

The Landshut only reach 15th place this season and are relegated to the Landesliga Nord.

At the same time, his hometown club BSG Himolla Taufkirchen made it to the Landesliga Süd, and Dworschak had the opportunity to play again with his guys from his youth days.

Help in relegation battle

He was especially happy to be able to play with Rainer Fleck again.

“Rainer is an outstanding footballer and friend.

It was a pleasure to play with him and a challenge to play against him.

We were both football-obsessed and we were concerned about our fitness even when we were on vacation, ”he remembers.

“We enjoyed the winter holidays together in Oberndorf in Tyrol.

In the morning we went jogging to get rolls for breakfast, after skiing we ended the day with an evening mountain run. "

In Taufkirchen nice years in the regional league followed with experienced players like Fleck, Oliver Hampe, Gerald Kaiser, Wolfgang Oberndorfer, Helmut Otto, shaped by the "excellent player-coach" Albert Ostermaier, his successor Hans-Peter Alt ("a brilliant footballer") and finally Anton Bönig, with whose family a friendly relationship developed.

1991 Dworschak starts his professional activity in surgery in Vilsbiburg.

Two years later, the end of his football career seems to be in the pipeline, because he changes to the orthopedics department at the Essen University Hospital.

When the BSG is in danger of relegation, the way to Taufkirchen at the weekend is not too far for him to help out with the team.

That goes well for two seasons in a row, despite the lack of training with the team.

In 1995, however, the BSG's relegation from the regional league can no longer be prevented.

After a very intense 15 years as an active footballer, Dworschak ended his career.

He is certainly not only remembered by his teammates, but also by opponents, including names such as Christian Hochstätter, Herbert Waas, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Michael Rummenigge, Erich Beer and Armin Veh.

Football ratchet with Markus Fischbeck

The following years are characterized by family and work.

In 1995 daughter Annika was born, in 1999 son Konstantin was born, in the same year the establishment as a specialist for orthopedics and trauma surgery in Erding, where Dworschak continues to practice, for several years together with Dr.

Markus Fischbeck, also no stranger to the football scene.

When a co-trainer for the E-Jugend of the BSG Taufkirchen was sought in 2007, in which his son Konstantin played, Dworschak could not avoid this task. This is the starting signal for a coaching activity in the youth sector that will last until 2018. With Wolfgang Peschke, Manfred Heilmeier and Thomas Daimer, Dworschak looks after the teams up to D-youth, with Klaus Unterreitmeier the cooperation from C- to A-youth follows. The goal is technically good, fair football in order to be able to compete with the best teams in the district and thus keep talented players in the club. The success comes. And so Dworschak and the A-Jugend, a game community from Taufkirchen, Moosen and Hohenpolding, the championship as well as the district cup against the district upper division club Altenerding and only fails to qualify for the district final on penalties at the regional division SE Freising.

Dworschak is open and honest about his career and football. “I enjoyed the successes and good times, but also saw that everything has its price. The health risks in football cannot be denied, I see the consequences every day in my practice, ”the orthopedist knows. “I was lucky that I didn't have a serious knee injury, but two ankle injuries were enough to reinforce my interest in medicine.” In conclusion, the 57-year-old says: “Football is not that important, but there is nothing better than to change a few sentences about this unimportant topic with my practice colleague Markus Fischbeck - also carrier of the footballer and BSG gene - during a break from work.“And the Bavarian A youth final in 1982 between TSV 1860 and 1. FC Nürnberg - with“ Matchwinner ”Dworschak - will certainly be an issue here and there.
