An alligator on the field caused a sensation during training by Toronto FC before the Concacaf Champions League quarter-finals against Cruz Azul.

"All my players ran towards him while I ran exactly the other way," said coach Chris Armas.

The club, which is currently preparing for the Tampa game in Orlando, Florida, posted a video of the incident on its website.

Several players posed for photos from a safe distance.

“It was an alligator, a big alligator.

We talked in the team about being aggressive and not being afraid.

But we hadn't thought of that, "said coach Armas in a video on Sky Sport:" If you're near water here in Florida, it can happen.

It was kind of cool too. "

The Concacaf Champions League is the most important football competition for club championships in North and Central America and the Caribbean.

The quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
