Munich / Dresden

- Dynamo Dresden's new trainer Alexander Schmidt has started work with a declaration of war.

"I will give every drop of blood to lead Dynamo Dresden into the 2nd division," said the 52-year-old ex-trainer of TSV 1860 and Türkgücü Munich at his introduction.

Alexander Schmidt and Dynamo Dresden will face ex-club Türkgücü Munich on May 15th

The omens for the native of Augsburg are changing so quickly. Two weeks ago he tipped the Löwen as a direct climber in the 3rd division, now he will do everything possible to overtake the Blauen with the eight-time GDR champion. Before the first of two catch-up games today against MSV Duisburg (7 pm), Schmidt demanded the basic virtues of his new team: "Commitment, fight, passion, heart, duel, compactness."

In mid-May, the coach may even demand these qualities a little more from his players: Then Schmidt and the Saxons will meet the former club Türkgücü Munich in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden.

After the surprising separation at the beginning of February there were some disagreements, Max Kothny publicly settled accounts with Schmidt, the scolded trainer complained about the capricious President Hasan Kivran and his attempts to interfere in the line-up.

Türkgücü Munich: With Schmidt's departure, significantly less behind the promotion places

Both sides will be extremely motivated in the May 15th game.

The football teacher was dismissed at the beginning of February when he was five points behind the promotion places to the 2nd Bundesliga.

After interim coach Andi Pummer had two wins, the climber crashed under his successor Serdar Dayat.

The 51-year-old only got two wins, one draw, suffered six defeats and probably has no future for continued employment beyond the season.

The gap in the table to the relegation place has now grown to 15 points.
