Meeting this Tuesday, the National Rugby League (LNR) committee decided not to change anything in terms of ascent and descent in Top 14 and Pro D2.
However, some clubs (especially the poorly classified: Agen, Bayonne, Pau and Montpellier for the Top 14, Soyaux-Angoulême in Pro D2) campaigned for the creation of a temporary Top 15 and a Pro D2 to 17 clubs to limit the damage caused by relegation in an economic context made difficult by the health crisis.
As expected, the last of the Top 14 (Agen, already condemned) will be relegated directly to the lower echelon while the 13th (currently Pau) will play a maintenance barrage against the beaten club in the Pro D2 final.
This “access match” will take place on Saturday June 12 at 5:30 pm.
The last two of Pro D2, them, will descend in National.
For the moment, these very uncomfortable places are occupied by Valence Romans and Soyaux-Angoulême.

During this committee, the NRL also approved the schedule for the final phase of the Top 14. The last meeting of the season - the final - is set for Friday June 25 at 9 pm on the lawn of the Stade de France.
The play-offs will be played on Friday June 11 (9 p.m.) and Saturday June 12 (same time), the semi-finals on Friday June 18 (9 p.m.) and Saturday June 19 (same time).
All the matches will be broadcast on Canal +, the final also being broadcast on France 2. With four days left of the end of the regular season, Toulouse occupies the top of the standings (72 points) ahead of La Rochelle (67), Racing 92 and Clermont (59), these three teams counting one game less.
