The draw for the Arab Cup soccer finals, which was withdrawn yesterday in the Qatari capital, Doha, put the Syrian team in the second group, along with the Emirates and Tunisia teams, and the winner of the supplement match between Yemen and Mauritania.
The tournament, which will be held on the first of next December and continues until the eighteenth of it, is the tenth edition after an absence of 19 years, and according to the tournament system that won FIFA recognition, 23 teams will participate in it. A classification in the supplement role.
He plays in the role of the supplement Oman team with Somalia, Lebanon with Djibouti, Jordan with South Sudan, Bahrain with Kuwait and Mauritania with Yemen, Palestine with the Comoros and Libya with Sudan.
The first group included both the Qatar and Iraq teams, the winner from the Oman and Somalia match, the winner from the Bahrain and Kuwait match, while the second group included our team, along with the Tunisian and UAE teams, in addition to the winner from the Mauritania and Yemen match, and the third group Morocco and Saudi Arabia, the winner from the Jordan and South Sudan match, and the winner from the Palestine and Comoros match. And finally, the fourth group in which Algeria and Egypt play, the winner of the Lebanon-Djibouti match, and the winner of the Libya-Sudan match.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Cup was launched for the first time in 1963 in Beirut, and Tunisia won its title at the expense of our national team, while the last edition was held in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and Morocco was crowned with its title.
Our team won the runner-up position three times in “1963, 1966 and 1988” and won the fourth place in the tournament hosted by Syria in 1992, and Egypt won its title, noting that the previous nine titles were distributed among the teams of Iraq 4 times, Saudi Arabia “twice”, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia once One for each team.
