First leg won, the second leg too: Manchester City have reached the premier class final. The starting point for the second success against Paris was a great pass from Ederson. Towards the end of the game it got unfair.

Manchester City are in the Champions League final for the first time.

In England, coach Pep Guardiola's team won 2-0 (1-0) against Paris Saint-Germain.

Riyad Mahrez quickly took the reassuring lead for his team (11th minute of the game) and made the decision in the second half (63rd).

Ángel Di María was thrown off the pitch a short time later because of assault (69th).

City had already won the first leg 2-1.

In the final on May 29 in Istanbul City will face either Chelsea or Real Madrid, who will play the second leg in London on Wednesday (9 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de) after the 1-1 draw in Spain.

At PSG, Kylian Mbappé only sat on the bench.

For him, Mauro Icardi started as a real striker in the penalty area.

In addition, Abdou Diallo and Ander Herrera joined the team for Idrissa Gueye (red in the first leg) and Mitchel Bakker.

Before the game it had rained, hailed and snowed heavily.

Both teams received fewer passes than usual on the wet surface.

At first Paris coped better with the unfamiliar conditions, but fell behind early on.

Even after that, the guests initially had good opportunities.

But after almost 25 minutes City got the game calmed down, had long periods of possession and hardly any problems on the defensive.

After the break, the lawn was more playable and Manchester let the ball and opponents run.

With Mahrez's second goal, Manchester’s first European Cup final in 51 years was almost certain.

The city lead came after a long pass from goalkeeper Ederson to Oleksandr Zinchenko, who passed in the middle to Kevin De Bruyne at the height of the penalty area.

The Belgian shot was deflected, so Mahrez came from about five meters to the finish (11th).

PSG still needed two goals to at least get extra time.

And Mauricio Pochettino's team had chances: First Marquinhos hit the crossbar with a head (17th), then Di María shot the ball just wide of the empty goal.

Bernardo Silva had previously lost the ball just before his own penalty area, Ederson was relatively far in front of his goal (19th).

Mahrez scores for the second time, Paris loses its nerve

City did not allow any further major opportunities for the time being.

The English had a good chance of a second goal just before half-time.

First Mahrez failed, then Bernardo Silva (45th + 2nd).

The hosts started the second half better, also because Paris was higher and offered more space.

But there were no more than half chances for the city or the few promising situations for the guests.

But Manchester first had time and then an almost perfect counterattack.

Phil Foden picked up the pace on the left, played to De Bruyne, who completed the one-two with a ball in the path of Foden.

The initiator of the counterattack put the ball in the middle to Mahrez, who pushed in from short distance (63rd).

After Di Marías' kick against Fernandinho's ankle, it was clear that Paris would not reach the Champions League final this season.

Marco Verrati, Presnel Kimpembe and Danilo Pereira could also have seen red, but only got yellow.
