Flag bearer.
Mother of two children, Mélina Robert-Michon (41), a figure in French athletics, will experience her 6th Olympic Games this summer (after Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004, Beijing in 2008, London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016).
Her experience and her career earned her to appear in the list of twelve athletes, including seven women, candidates for the prestigious role of flag bearer.
LE FIGARO: Did your candidacy to be a flag bearer seem obvious to you from the outset?
Mélina ROBERT-MICHON: Obvious, no, because it's never easy to say that we are legitimate for a role which is, in my eyes, as important.
I thought about it, I listened to what I was told… For me, being a flag bearer seemed inaccessible.
I remember the first time I experienced the Games, in Sydney in 2000, and back then, I never imagined that at some point I could claim such an honor.
Moreover, even today, I surprise myself to be a candidate
