Employees of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) demand a change of leadership in the association in an open letter.

The anonymous letter that SPIEGEL has received relates to several internal processes that President Alfons Hörmann is accused of.

"Under the leadership of the current president, a" culture of fear "has established itself among the staff in the DOSB," says the letter.

»Differing opinions are (at best) ironed out and (at worst) exposed.

And so we are also afraid.

Fear of having to reckon with consequences under labor law when naming our names, maybe even losing our job. "

In the past weeks and months, more than a third of the DOSB employees have come together.

In the conversations dozens of examples of behavior came up, "which above all lack any form of respect and decency."

"Mentally and psychologically over the border"

The letter names several of these processes. Employees in particular would have been brought “mentally and psychologically over the limits of what they could take”. The closest employees “left the office in tears shortly before midnight”. The accusation that »pens or other objects have been thrown in the direction of employees« is also made. The letter goes on to say: »Employees have quit because of such behavior; others are in psychotherapeutic treatment. "

Further allegations concern disregard of the rules in force within the DOSB to contain the coronavirus.

Accordingly, a mask requirement applies in the DOSB headquarters and in meetings with several people.

“Unfortunately, however, there are members in the DOSB executive bodies who consistently and consistently disregard these rules.

We employees are not aware of any meeting in the »House of Sports« in which Alfons Hörmann wore a mask. "

Across Germany, the sports base is struggling every day for survival after a year of existence-threatening restrictions.

"At the same time, the very rules that should enable us all to get out of the pandemic are being disregarded," it says.

There are "just a few examples from a long list of behaviors that illustrate the unbridgeable distance between parts of the DOSB decision-making bodies and us employees."
