Ligue 2: the cry of alarm from Chambly employees after the stoppage of the stadium site

2021-05-07T18:51:56.388Z

In addition to the maintenance race, FC Chambly is playing another behind-the-scenes game against the Association pour l'Aménagement de la Vallée de

Saturday against Pau, Chambly, 19th in Ligue 2, will play its future at this level.

But in this season where almost nothing will have turned in the right direction between injuries of important players and the English variant of the Covid which had decimated the workforce for several weeks, a new big annoyance came to dampen the morale of an entire club.

On April 30, the day before the match in Le Havre, the Senlis court of law suspended the construction of the Walter Luzi stadium, which was to be ready for the start of next season. The association for the development of the valley of the Esches, which is opposed to this project in a wetland estimating "that it does not respect the legislation in terms of town planning and the environment" has multiplied the appeals since several months, playing with the nerves of the leaders and employees of the club. But this new stop for six months, when the stadium is 85% complete, is very badly lived. "The club is a life threatening danger," says one leader. A club that has decided not to communicate officially for the moment and to wait for the Pau match. But he is studying all the possibilities. He could also take the legal route.

"A possible relegation to National would probably have less impact on our jobs"

In the meantime, club employees have expressed their anger and concern in an open letter addressed to the Association for the Development of the Esche Valley.

They evoke "a relentlessness towards the City of Chambly" which has repercussions on the club.

“Angry, because the country is going through an unprecedented financial and health crisis and that our great club will be one of the few professional clubs to get out of this situation financially. Unless we still have to move abroad. Angry, because the Walter Luzi stadium is 85% complete and it is vital for the SURVIVAL OF OUR JOBS! Because yes Gentlemen, OUR jobs are threatened by YOUR relentlessness. Imagine that a possible relegation to National would, probably, have less impact on our jobs thanks to the very good financial management of our club, than your PERSONAL appeals. These will lead to layoffs and plunge families into social distress. You wondered at the time about the fact that the club called itself "hostage" during your previous appeals.Know that this is more than ever the case. We are hostages of your actions. And the only ransom to free us is to let this stage end and let us WORK so that CHAMBLY does not fall into the dungeons of the sporting world. Sincerely yours, FC Chambly - OISE employees »

If the president of the Association for the development of the valley of the Esche, Alain Perrein remains camped on his positions, his vice-president Vincent Abot, sent a letter to the club.

"I am not the decision-maker of the proceedings recently initiated before the court of Senlis," he writes.

I find deplorable the negative consequences of this procedure on the trajectory of the FC.

I hope that we will be able to find in the future the possibility of carrying out actions of environmental awareness.
