After three years of abstinence, striker Daniel Schander (25) returns to EV Moosburg.

Family reasons were also decisive for this.

Moosburg

- “Moosburg was of course always an option for me.

After all, I had my three best years here in the Bayernliga, ”says Daniel Schander, who was born in Freyung, and could not prevent EVM's relegation from BEL three years ago despite his 29 goals and 19 assists.

For the fans from the Dreirosenstadt it has been a strange feeling in the recent past to see their former crowd favorite now in the jersey of the opponent - whether in the one of the Passau Black Hawks (2018/19) or that of the EV Dingolfing (2019 to 2021) .

The 25-year-old now lives near the Dreirosenstadt

But from the new season onwards, the winger will be playing for Moosburg again. Even if, as he admits, saying goodbye to his home club Dingolfing is anything but easy, he made this decision against the background of his family situation. Because Schander now lives just a few kilometers from the Clariant Arena in the Moosburg area and is also the father of a young daughter. “Of course that all played a role,” reports Schander. But because "everything was fine" in his first time in Moosburg, he is now looking forward to many familiar faces and to working with coach Bernie Englbrecht. "We just harmonize well."

The 25-year-old's sporting goal is to “survive the main round well and get into the playoffs” - although another point is even more important to him: “I very much hope that ice hockey can and will be played properly again this winter Spectators are allowed into the halls. ”Experience the fun of hockey - that's what it's primarily about.

First a talented young player, then a top performer

Schander learned to play ice hockey in Dingolfing.

There he went through the youth teams before moving to EV Moosburg in 2015.

As a 20-year-old he made 33 appearances in the Bayern League under coach Petr Kankovsky and scored seven goals and nine assists.

He steadily increased this quota in the two following years and thus became a top performer.

In 2018, Schander moved to Passau within the Bavarian League, before he put his skates back on for the Isar Rats Dingolfing in the regional league from 2019.
