Juventus- AC Milan: Champions League goal

2021-05-10T04:45:30.691Z

If Inter have already validated their title of champion of Italy last week, the race for the Champions League is bitter on the other side of the Alps. Five teams compete for the last three remaining tickets.

This Sunday (8:45 p.m.), Juventus and AC Milan face each other in Turin in a crucial match.

The Milanese, 4th and the Turinese, 3rd have the same number of points (69) and are under threat from Napoli and Lazio who are playing this Saturday.

Juventus: The harder the fall

Hard return to reality for Juventus this season. After having marched in Italy for almost a whole decade, the Turinese no longer dominate as before. If the Bianconeri still have a workforce that would make many clubs in Europe salivate, it must be said that the sauce does not take this season. Inducted as a coach last summer, Andrea Pirlo is in trouble. This year, Juventus has never been in the fight for the title and was eliminated from the Champions League in the eighth against FC Porto (1-2, 3-2). If Cristiano Ronaldo continues to score and bring points to Juventus, it is a very disappointing season for the Turinese. As the end of the season approaches, the presence of the Old Lady in the Champions League next season is not yet guaranteed. An absence in this competition would be a cataclysm for Juve. The victory is therefore imperative tonight for the men of Andrea Pirlo. Note that Juventus has a mixed record against its rivals this season (3 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses), before the reception of AC Milan this Sunday and Inter in two weeks.

AC Milan: don't spoil everything

The Rossoneri had made a very good start to the season. Leaders from the 5th to the 21st day, Stefano Pioli's men lost precious points. Long in the fight for the title, the Milanese let their rival Inter to the title. Now 4th with two points ahead of 5th, Naples. AC Milan are obliged to take points. But it will not be an easy task against Juventus, especially since the residents of San Siro are struggling this season against the "big". In eight matches played against the top 6, AC Milan have three wins for five losses, and the Lombards will move on the lawn of Atalanta on the final day. Failure to qualify for the Champions League would be a failure for Zlatan Ibrahimovic's teammates. Absent from this competition since 2013-2014,the Milanese have had their best season since their 3rd place in 2012-2013. If AC Milan wants to once again become a stronghold of European football, it will be necessary to go for the first four places in the championship.
