The club has formalized the contract extension of the Brazilian who is no longer linked with Paris until 2022 but now until June 2025.

After the Prince, the King.

The day after the announcement of its association with Prince Estate, the company which manages the rights of the American singer who died in 2016, PSG formalized, this Saturday, the continuation of his union with Neymar (29 years old) whose contract was extended from June 2022 to June 2025, as announced by L'Équipe.

“I am very happy, very happy to extend with Paris, explained the number 10 in an interview on the club's website.

The truth is that I am very happy to stay here for many years, to participate in the club's project, to win titles there, to realize our biggest dream which is the Champions League.

So I'm happy to stay at the club, to be part of its history and to extend my contract.

This announcement comes four days after the sad elimination in the semi-final of the Champions League with the defeat 4-1 over the whole of the two confrontations against Manchester City.

On the outward journey, as on the return, Neymar never appeared able to change the match and in particular he annoyed many observers by his individualism on the lawn of the Etihad Stadium where he cruelly "lacked simplicity" as underlined Laurent Fournier, former player and Parisian trainer.

In the pipes for weeks

This Sunday (9 p.m.), still without Kylian Mbappé suspended, Neymar will try to help Paris to stay in the title race even if the success of Lille on Friday night in Lens (3-0) weakens Parisian hopes a little more.

This signature has been in the pipeline for weeks.

Parisian sporting director Leonardo judged in February that a new contract was "on track".

“This is no longer a subject,” the 29-year-old slipped in mid-April after qualifying for the quarter against Bayern Munich.

"It is obvious that I feel very comfortable, at home, here at PSG", he had launched at the microphone of TNT Sports Brazil after the return leg.

"He has been repeating that he is happy in Paris for months," we whispered in those around him.

Already at the end of January, in an interview granted to TF1 for the program “Sept à Huit”, number 10 loudly proclaimed his love for Paris by showing his will: “I want to stay.

"

He would have accepted a pay cut

In almost four years at the club since his arrival in the summer of 2017 and the redemption of his clause and despite repeated injuries, he has scored 85 goals and delivered 51 assists in 112 games.

According to France Bleu Paris, the Brazilian would have accepted a salary cut - which is currently 3.06 million euros goal per month - for this extension but which would be compensated by a system of larger bonuses.
