The French soccer champion Paris Saint-Germain made a mistake that could have serious consequences in the Ligue 1 season's final spurt.

The team did not get past a 1-1 (1-0) score at Stade Rennes and are now three points behind leaders OSC Lille in the title race.

Two game days are still pending.

Superstar Neymar, who on Saturday extended his contract in Paris until 2025, scored the guests' lead with a penalty kick (45th + 5).

The former Cologne Serhou Guirassy (70th) scored with his head to equalize.

Shortly before the end of the game, PSG professional Presnel Kimpembe saw the red card (87th) after an overly tough start.

The defender had cleared Jérémy Doku from behind at high speed, the foul took place in his own half and on the sideline.

It was a brutal attack without need.

Lille (79 points) are now four points in the remaining two games of the season to perfect the fifth championship title in the club's history.

PSG (76) is second ahead of AS Monaco (74).

Niko Kovač's team celebrated a 1-0 (1-0) win at Stade Reims, an important victory in the fight for the Champions League places and thus defended third place just ahead of competitor Olympique Lyon, against Monaco a week earlier had lost (2: 3).

Eliot Matazo (20th) scored decisive, Monaco's lead is one point.

Only third place entitles them to qualify for the premier class, Monaco would start fourth in the Europa League.

Most recently, PSG failed in the Champions League at Manchester City, in the French Cup, Mauricio Pochettino's team will go to the semi-finals in Montpellier on Wednesday.
