Also thanks to a curious but correct referee decision, Real Madrid is stuck in the Spanish title fight. In the top game against Sevilla FC, the team of coach Zinédine Zidane did not get past a 2-2 (1-0). Fernando had given Sevilla the lead in the first half (22nd minute), Marco Asensio equalized for the Madrilenians (67th). Ivan Rakitić took care of the renewed guest management with a penalty (78th) - referee Juan Martinez Munuera initially decided on a penalty for Real Madrid. A Diego Carlos own goal secured the point for Real in stoppage time (90 + 4).

Sevilla had started strong, tried to bring their own possession game through and boosted their own offensive game, especially through playmaker Papu Gómez.

In addition, there was the luck that Karim Benzema was just offside in the alleged opening goal Reals (12th).

On the other side, everything was right: After a short free-kick variant by Seville, the ball went to Fernando via detours.

The midfielder prevailed in the Madrid penalty area in a narrow space and scored with a low shot to take the lead (22nd).

After falling behind, Real found their way into the game better and pressed the equalizer after the half-time break.

Asensio succeeded in doing so, who met with a direct acceptance after a pass from Kroos (67th).

Then the video assistant's hour struck.

Real countered quickly after a corner kick for Sevilla, Benzema appeared alone in front of guest goalkeeper Bono and fell after a collision.

A clear foul - but referee Martinez Munuera was asked to the video screen.

The slow motion broke up: Not the action in the penalty area of Seville was checked, it was about a handball by Reals Éder Militão at the previous corner.

Instead of a penalty for Real, there was a hand penalty for Sevilla, which Rakitić converted (78th).

Kroos' violent shot leads to an equalization

The final point, however, was set by the conspicuous Kroos, who shot one of the last desperate attacks of his team from almost 20 meters on the opposing goal.

Heavily deflected by Sevilla defender Carlos, the ball hit the goal (90 + 4).

With three games to go, there is a four-way battle for the title in the Primera División, Seville in fourth place has six points behind the top but probably only has theoretical chances.

Real Madrid are second with 75 points, city rivals Atlético Madrid lead the table with 77 points.

FC Barcelona, who wrested a 0-0 draw from Atlético in the second top game of the weekend, also took third place with 75 points.
