In a press release, the city of Munich announces the final points for the renovation and modernization of the Grünwalder Stadium and the Olympic Stadium.

Munich - The renovation work and modernization measures on the Munich stadiums have long been an issue for the clubs that play their home games there.

TSV 1860 Munich currently shares the Grünwalder Stadium with the Bavarian Amateurs and Türkgücü Munich is now still located in the Olympic Stadium.

According to the DFL / DFB statutes, only two teams per city are allowed in a stadium. Türkgücü Munich likes the interim solution with the Olympic Stadium less and less and then the city of Munich must find this problem as well.

1860 President Reisinger: "I am an advocate of economically viable solutions for the TSV 1860"

If TSV 1860 Munich were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, a conversion would be absolutely necessary in order to meet the technical requirements in League 2.

In April of this year, Reisinger was still cautious about the city of Munich's plans for the Münchner Wochenanzeiger.

Maintaining the Grünwald stadium and not building a new stadium in another part of the city would be economically vital for the lions' survival.

One is “aware of the quality of the location”.

Thanks to the press release from the City of Munich, this wish could now come true for the TSV 180.

City of Munich announces three big changes in the Grünwalder Stadium

In order to participate in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Grünwalder Stadium needs a larger space for media transmission technology, which is now to be set up in the west block.

By blocking the escape and rescue routes with this measure, the block may no longer be fully occupied in the future.

In addition, the quality of the lawn is to be increased and the floodlight system is to be significantly improved.

The press release of the city of Munich states: “This takes place in anticipation of the sporting promotion of TSV Munich from 1860 to the 2nd Bundesliga and subject to the license being granted by the DFL.

The corresponding funds have already been made available and the planning and the fastest possible implementation have been commissioned "

Eternal controversial topic: The Olympic Stadium

After Türkgücü Munich was promoted to the 3rd division, the Grünwalder was full - too full for the DFL guidelines.

The club had to move to the Olympic Stadium, which has repeatedly led to critical statements from Managing Director Kothny.

A particularly annoying topic for Kothny is the lack of underfloor heating, which made it almost impossible to play on the pitch, especially in the winter months.

Now finally the green light from the city of Munich: The underfloor heating for the Olympic Stadium is coming.

The stadium will also have a new LED floodlight system.

However, the Olympic Stadium is not a long-term solution for Türkgücü Munich, the rent is too expensive.

Plans for building their own stadium are not yet fully developed.

At least as far as a youth training center is concerned, the association can rely on support from local politics.

This also found an alternative during the renovation of the Grünwalder Stadium

With these new plans, the Olympic Stadium will also be an alternative for TSV 1860 Munich and FC Bayern Munich II if the Grünwalder stadium should not be playable due to renovation work or the like.

Mayor Verena Dietl says about the planned modernization measures: “With the Olympic Stadium and the Grünwalder Stadium we have two traditional sports facilities in Munich.

With the measures in both stadiums, the City of Munich is creating an important perspective for football in Munich.

I am very grateful to the sports administration that they planned and reacted with such foresight. "

The coordination of the games in possibly three different leagues will be a challenge if one of the stadiums should be canceled due to the renovation.

The Munich Lions could be promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, Türkgücü will definitely stay in League 3 and the FC Bayern amateurs are still fighting against relegation to the Regional League.

But this is a problem for the city of Munich for another day.
