Leader with three points ahead of its Parisian dolphin, LOSC is on track to win the French championship. A performance commented by the former champion coach of France with Monaco in 2017, Leonardo Jardim at our colleagues of the Team.

Lille is heading towards a title of champion of France, the fourth in its history, 10 years after the triumph of Eden Hazard, Gervinho, Cabaye etc.

A feat, in a Ligue 1 dominated by PSG since its passage under the Qatari flag in 2011. Since the arrival of the leaders of the Emirate of the Middle East in the French capital, only Montpellier in 2012 and Monaco in 2017 have delighted the title to the Parisians.

The Héraultais triumphed in a surprising way while the PSG lived its first season under the Qatari era.

Despite the presence of players like Pastore, Néné, Matuidi or Menez, the capital club did not have stars and was very different from today's PSG.

Monaco 2017 stronger than Lille 2021

In an interview with

the team

, Leonardo Jardim returned to the current Ligue 1 season and Lille's potential title. For the Portuguese, who led the Monegasques to final victory in 2017, there is no picture. His Monaco was much stronger than the current LOSC. Indeed, the Lusitanian relies on the quality of play and the offensive statistics of his team at the time: “We scored more than 100 goals (62 for Lille, note), almost a record in Europe, we had a very offensive, spectacular team, so we can't really compare ”. The former Sporting coach goes even further and says that the fight for the title was much tougher in its time: “The year for Monaco, there was a big Paris Saint-Germain against us. We got 95 points and they got 87. It was a much more contested duel.If Paris had been at the same level as the previous seasons, it would have already won the championship. ” Words that go a little in the direction of those made by Kylian Mbappé on Wednesday evening. After the qualification for the final of the Coupe de France at the expense of Montpellier, the native of Bondy had declared at the microphone of

Eurosport

that PSG had scuttled itself in the race for the title: “We can only blame ourselves.

If we lose this championship, we will have lost it.

Not them (Lille) who will have won it ”.

The French prodigy, however, qualified his remarks on his Instagram account shortly after in order to avoid any controversy.

Jardim welcomes LOSC

Despite everything, the Portuguese does not devalue the possible title of champion of France of the northerners: “To be champion is always to be champion, a great performance.

If Lille wins, I will be happy because I have friends there, Galtier and my former goalkeeper coach (Carlos Pires). ”

Lille receives Saint-Etienne this Sunday evening and can be crowned champion in case of victory, combined with a defeat or a draw for PSG which receives Reims.
