The fake of 14 originally positive corona tests is costing the Brazilian football club Cascavel CR dearly.

The club, already relegated from the state championship of Parana, which currently does not play in any of the four national leagues, was withdrawn from circulation for two years by the regional sports court.

An appeal against the judgment before the highest sports court in Brazil is still possible.

In the first instance, the club was only sentenced to a 180-day ban, which the public prosecutor had appealed.

This accused the club management of "not caring about the health of the players" and of "giving a damn" about the opposing team.

Fine of 31,000 euros

Several players who were acquitted in the first trial have now been banned from six games.

The club had falsified the tests before the April 30 game against Athletico Paranaense.

After the fraud became known, the then coach of Cascavel CR resigned.

The ban that has now been pronounced also applies to members of the club's management.

The fine of the equivalent of 31,000 euros, which has also increased significantly in the second instance, is to go in equal parts to the regional association and to institutions in the fight against the corona virus.
