The outgoing league manager Christian Seifert has ruled out a move to the German Football Association as the successor to President Fritz Keller.
"Never," said the head of the German Football League (DFL) to the editorial network in Germany when asked about it.
“And not because I have something against the DFB.
But I wouldn't be in a good position, ”said Seifert, who has announced his departure from the DFL for summer 2022.
He does not yet have any concrete plans for his future.
The German Football Association is looking for a new president after Keller declared his willingness to resign after his Nazi settlement. The contract of DFB General Secretary Friedrich Curtius is to be terminated, Vice President Rainer Koch no longer wants to run for re-election. Seifert demanded that the association must take advantage of the opportunity presented by the change in personnel. "The course has now been set for a fresh start at the DFB," he said.
Seifert asked the federal government to review the corona crisis management. With a view to the situation of the Bundesliga, the quality of the pandemic fight in Germany can be assessed: »If you were to use the Bundesliga as an indicator of how we got through this crisis, you could say that between the restart and the possible one Re-admission of viewers, some things apparently did not go as they should. "
In May of last year, the Bundesliga was the first major professional league in the world to resume playing - but spectators are still not allowed in the stadiums.
According to Seifert, Germany has now been overtaken by other nations.
Mainly due to the lack of ticket revenue, which previously "made up about 13 to 15 percent of revenue on average," the Bundesliga will "probably generate around a quarter less revenue in relation to the season before the pandemic."
