The miraculous Romain Grosjean always has a good steering wheel.
The French driver, recently retired from Formula 1, won his first pole position since GP2.
He finished first in the qualifying session at the Indianapolis road circuit, on his third IndyCar race weekend.
The ex-Haas Grand Prix rider, who now races for Dale Coyne Racing, drove spectacularly throughout the session.
He settled down comfortably in the “Fast Six” group to obtain this first pole position of his season, having already come close to it during the opening of the North American championship.
The ex-F1 driver has shown no signs of rust despite not competing in the last two races in Texas as he is not racing ovals this year.
For his comeback, he took pole straight away in one of the most competitive qualifying sessions in the world of motorsport.

Romain Grosjean confirmed that he struggled with the car in the first part of qualifying, but his engineer Olivier Boisson made big changes.
He notably beat the two-time IndyCar champion and Penske driver Josef Newgarden by 0.1269 seconds.
