Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski equaled Gerd Muller's record number of goals in one season in the German Football League, who has stood for 49 years after he reached 40 goals today.
Lewandowski scored a goal in the 26th minute against Freiburg today, bringing it to the number of goals scored by Muller during the 1971-1972 season, and the Polish striker still has a chance to be alone in the record.
The Polish striker is already second in the league's top scorer list throughout his history with 276 goals and is only behind Muller, who scored 365 goals.
