- Two young stick shooters from SC Oberhummel have had a very successful weekend: At the Bayern Cup in Freilassing, Maxi Kloiber and Felix Karpfinger took third and fourth place in the U 19 age group on Saturday and thus both won the European Cup in autumn qualified.
In the end, the best distance of the day was 113.08 meters for Kloiber and 112.68 meters for Karpfinger.
After the first five shots in the preliminary round, the two Oberhummler were in third and fifth place.
Then, as usual in cup competitions, it went to the playoffs.
That means: The first round goes into a direct duel with the eighth placed, the second best plays against the seventh and so on.
After three more shots, Kloiber had won his quarter-finals against Max Mayer.
Karpfinger won his duel with Johannes Michl, fourth in the preliminary round, and qualified for the round of the last four.
Oberhummler club duel for the bronze medal
But that was the end of the game for the two young people from Oberhummler: Alexander Späth and Basti Simon, the older class semesters of the U19 juniors, made it to the finals. Instead, there was an Oberhummler club duel in the battle for the bronze medal: Maxi, who will be 18 in June, had the better end with 109.72 meters. He was just 17 centimeters in front of 17-year-old Felix.
For the Bavarian distance trainer and technical director of the SC Oberhummel, Florian Kloiber, a great achievement of his two young wild ones. Especially since both will be allowed to compete in the U19s in the next year, in the case of Felix also in the year after that. "I'm definitely satisfied with the width of the two," explains Florian Kloiber. “Above all, it was characteristic of the entire competition that an uncanny consistency could be seen in the trials. As a trainer, I don't like it when someone rolls four into nirvana and then drops a lucky punch. You can build on a constant performance much better. "
By the way: With their placements in the top six, the two youngsters from Oberhummler will also qualify for the U19 European Cup in Winklarn (Lower Austria) from September 10th to 12th.
This qualification opportunity for the international comparison of countries ensured that the Bayern Cup in Freilassing could even be declared and carried out as a competitive sporting event.
Kloiber and Karpfinger are also doing well with the U23
On Sunday, Maxi Kloiber and Felix Karpfinger also started the U23 Bayern Cup. For association trainer Kloiber it was clear that there would not be enough for a place at the top. Rather, it was about gaining experience and taking some shots with you under competition conditions. But despite the age difference, the two young stick shooters did their job well on Sunday as well and delivered distances between 100 and 111 meters. Maxi Kloiber even made it to eighth place after the preliminary round and was in the playoffs. In the end he stayed in eighth place, Felix came in tenth.
All in all, it was a successful weekend from the point of view of SC Oberhummel and also for BEV regional trainer Florian Kloiber: “It was surprisingly positive.
