The 17-year-old long-distance shooter qualified for the U19 country comparison at the Bayern Cup in Freilassing.

Erding / Freilassing - “I have reached my goal, I am satisfied”, is Felix Karpfinger's Bayern Cup conclusion.

The 17-year-old long-distance shooter took fourth place in the U 19 competition and qualified for the country comparison in September.

It didn't work out for the U23s, but Karpfinger doesn't take that too tragically: "I only took the U23s with me as a training session anyway."

The best eight shooters from the preliminary fight each made it to the playoffs, the best six qualified for the country comparison.

"That was a strong group that started with the U19s," says Karpfinger, "but I got into the competition well".

The first three shots were between 104 and 107 meters, the fourth attempt was invalid.

That put him in eighth place.

"I was still hoping for the lucky punch, and then it actually worked," says the long-distance shooter, who starts for SC Oberhummel, and smiles.

112.68 meters meant fifth place, "and I was really happy with that, because I wanted to do at least 110 meters".

Then it was about the starting places for the country comparison, and here Karpfinger quickly made everything clear.

In the playoff quarter-finals he had to face his eternal rival Johannes Michl from SV Pocking.

Everyone had two shots, the better one was counted.

Here the Erdinger clearly prevailed with 109 meters.

In the semifinals he had no chance against the favored Basti Simon (SV Weiß-Blau Germerswang), who had already landed in the qualification with over 119 meters in second place.

"I was way too excited and wanted too much," says Kapfinger and is annoyed that he was defeated in the battle for third place - by 17 centimeters.

Maxi Kloiber, his SCO teammate, shot 109.72 m, Karpfinger's stick stopped after 109.55 m.

That meant fifth place for Erdinger, who was nevertheless satisfied.

Now he can take part in the U 19 country comparison against Austria.

In the U23 competition "I would have walked a few more meters", summarizes Karpfinger.

108.21 m stood after the qualification, which meant tenth place, to eighth place just three meters were missing.

"I am also satisfied with my performance in the U23, because in the end I shot pretty consistently", Karpfinger sums up.

"That was just a good training session."
