Joachim Löw has named the squad of the German national soccer team for the upcoming European championship.
The national coach brings Thomas Müller (Bayern Munich) and Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund) back to the DFB team for the tournament.
Both had been regular players in the national team for years, but were retired by Löw in 2019.
Jérôme Boateng (Bavaria), who was also eliminated at the time, will not return to the DFB squad.
In addition to the 2014 world championship duo, striker Kevin Volland from AS Monaco and Freiburg full-back Christian Günter are surprisingly part of the 26-player EM squad presented by the national coach in Frankfurt am Main.
On Tuesday evening, Marco Reus announced that he would not go to the European Championship after consulting the national coach.
The DFB line-up is final and, unlike in previous finals, no one will be canceled.
Due to the consequences of the corona pandemic, the European football association Uefa increased the squad from 23 to 26 players in order to reduce the risk that teams cannot compete due to quarantine measures.
The EM starts on June 11th and takes place in eleven different countries.
The DFB team will initially play in Munich, the final will be held in London on July 11th.
