The Argentine first division soccer team River Plate had positive corona results in 25 players.
In the meantime, Lucas Beltrán, Flabián Londoño Bedoya, Gonzalo Montiel, Leonardo Ponzio and Alex Vigo have also tested positive, the club from Buenos Aires said.
A few hours later, five more infected people were added.
At the weekend, the club had already reported 15 corona cases.
The top club from Buenos Aires have only eleven players who tested negatively for the Libertadores game on Wednesday against Independiente Santa Fe from Colombia, including not a single goalkeeper, which is why midfielder Enzo Pérez, who was last spared due to a muscle injury, is planned as a substitute keeper.
The soccer association Conmebol allows a squad of up to 50 players for the South American equivalent of the Champions League.
However, according to the latest findings, River Plate is no longer available for a goalkeeper.
With six points from four games, the club is currently second in Group D of the Copa Libertadores behind Fluminense FC from Brazil.
Copa America is on the brink
Argentina is currently in the middle of the second corona wave.
With 28,680 new infections, one of the highest values since the pandemic began over a year ago was reported on Monday.
So far, around 3.3 million people in Argentina have been shown to have been infected with the coronavirus, and over 71,000 patients have died in connection with Covid-19.
The Copa America is supposed to be held in Argentina and Colombia in mid-June.
In view of the social unrest in Colombia, Argentina's President Alberto Fernández has brought up the issue of his country's sole hosting.
