Max Verstappen has won the fifth Formula 1 race of the season.
The Red Bull driver benefited from his successful start on the demanding Monaco road circuit - and Charles Leclerc's premature retirement.
The Monegasse had taken pole position at his home Grand Prix during practice in the Ferrari, but he was unable to start due to damage to the drive shaft.
For Verstappen it was the first victory in the principality, even he had never stood on the podium.
Carlos Sainz finished second and young Brit Lando Norris completed the podium in his McLaren.
World championship leader Lewis Hamilton had only reached seventh place in qualifying in a Mercedes, he finished seventh again.
His switch to hard tires on lap 30 didn't change that either.

Debacle weekend for Mercedes
Sebastian Vettel reached fifth place and thus his best result for Aston Martin.
Mick Schumacher had missed the knockout after a training accident, started from the back - and couldn't make up any space.
Valtteri Bottas, who started second, had hopes for a place on the podium.
But the right front tire did not come off during the pit stop, a wheel nut slowed the Mercedes driver down.
The Finn stood in the pits for a long time, then officially retired.
