No matter where the grass is greener, you should never forget your roots ... Executioner of PSG in the semi-finals of the Champions League, Riyad Mahrez, the Manchester City striker, keeps a particular tenderness for Sarcelles, the city of Val-d'Oise where it was born thirty years ago.

The Algerian international took advantage of the parade celebrating the Citizens' title in the Premier League to show off a pair of a bit special studs.

During the presentation of the trophy, after a final success against Everton (5-0), Mahrez wore entirely white shoes with the H'echbone brand crossed out and a slogan that looks like a social elevator: "From Sarcelles to the Premier League ”(From Sarcelles to the Premier League). A double wink since the founder of the brand (which Verratti, Marquinhos or Rabiot wore when he started), Souleymane Kamissoko, is also a child of the city.

“With Riyadh, we wanted to create a unique pair of crampons in tribute to Sarcelles,” he explained to RMC Sports. The idea was that he could wear it for the celebration of the Premier League title, because it represents a consecration: party of Sarcelles to arrive on the roof of the world. Sarcelles, which does not always have a good press, is a melting pot. There are people of all origins, from different social classes, who can draw strength and inspiration from this place. The message is also to say that thanks to this, nothing is impossible for us ”.

Mahrez spread his wings twelve years ago and rose through the ranks to the top via Quimper, Saint-Mirren, Le Havre and Leicester before landing at City in 2018. After landing for the third time on the roof England, he now dreams of making his nest on the European peaks with a first Champions League final on May 29 against Chelsea.
