The final of the Champions League will take place in front of many fans again this year.
As the European Football Union (Uefa) announced, the Portuguese authorities approved 16,500 spectators for the duel between the English clubs Manchester City and Chelsea FC scheduled in Porto.
This means that the Estádio do Dragão would be a third full.
The two clubs will each receive a contingent of 6,000 tickets, plus 1,700 tickets will go on sale via Uefa on Tuesday afternoon.
In order to actually be allowed in the arena for the final on May 29 (9 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: Sky and DAZN), a vaccination certificate or a negative corona test is required.
The general entry restrictions in Portugal also apply to foreign fans.
The final was moved from Istanbul to Porto at the beginning of May due to the tense corona situation in Turkey and the travel regulations that apply there.
This should be guaranteed to be held in front of spectators.
“It wasn't an option to take the fans out of the game.
That's why I'm satisfied with this compromise, "said Uefa President Aleksander Čeferin at the time.
Istanbul should have hosted the final of the premier class last year, but due to the corona pandemic, Uefa decided to host a knockout tournament with the eight quarter-finalists in Lisbon.
There Bayern Munich had to celebrate its final triumph against Paris St. Germain (1-0) in front of a ghost crowd.
