Juventus, Real and Barça, who are still clinging to the Super League project, are in the sights of the European body.

The slingers sanctioned?

UEFA indicates in any case this Tuesday, through a press release, that Real Madrid, Juventus and FC Barcelona, the last clubs not to have turned their backs on the aborted Super League project, will be the object a “disciplinary procedure”.

The logical consequence, after the opening, in mid-May, of an investigation.

“Following an investigation carried out by UEFA's ethics and discipline inspectors in the framework of the so-called 'Super League' project, disciplinary proceedings were opened against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus for a potential violation of the legal framework of UEFA ”, explains the European body, without giving more details as to the possible sanctions.

Recall that a dozen clubs had seceded, announcing their choice to turn their backs on UEFA and the Champions League by creating an almost closed Super League on the night of April 18 to 19.

Two days later, faced with the popular sling and a few other reasons, nine of these teams threw in the towel, including the six English (Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal), but also Atlético Madrid , recent champion of Spain, and the two Milan clubs, AC Milan and Inter.

Paris Saint-Germain was not part of this happy band, nor Bayern Munich, and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had also emerged as the big winner of this crisis.

The repentants sanctioned, the last rebels stubbornly

Still, the nine repentants have already been reinstated and ... sanctioned by UEFA, with an overall fine of € 15 million and 5% withholding from their European revenues during their next participation in a continental competition. They also signed an agreement which provides for substantial fines for participation in a competition not authorized by UEFA (€ 100m) or if they in any way contravene the agreement. formalized on May 7 (€ 50 million).

"The question of other clubs involved in the so-called" Super League "will be referred to the competent disciplinary bodies of UEFA," said the European body, without further clarification on what risk these three clubs.

For their part, the leaders of Madrid, Turin and Barcelona have appealed to the European Court of Justice (CJEU), which will have to decide whether UEFA abuses its dominant position.

The soap opera is therefore far from over.

Real Madrid, Juventus Turin and FC Barcelona have all secured their qualification for the next Champions League on the pitch.

The future will tell if they will be deprived of it in the offices.

These three points weigh 20 victories in C1, including 13 for Casa Blanca.
