The German top skater Lilly Stoephasius has bought her ticket for the skateboard premiere at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
"It still feels unreal - but I qualified for the Olympics in Tokyo," wrote 13-year-old Stoephasius on Instagram.
She will be the youngest German participant in Japan.
The 20-year-old skater Tyler Edtmayer from Lenggries in Bavaria will also be there at the Olympics.
With his performance last weekend at the Pro Tour in Des Moines, Iowa, he secured one of the 20 starting places in the Park discipline: He came in 28th. Lilly Stoephasius took 18th place in Des Moines.
Because of the corona pandemic, the competition in Des Moines was the first international competition in a year and a half and at the same time the last qualifying stop for the park drivers before the games in Tokyo.
For Stoephasius, her participation in the Olympic Games is "an opportunity to make skateboarding bigger," she said a few weeks ago.
In contrast to the other Olympic discipline street, park skating is driven in a kind of "swimming pool" and consists of spectacular flight elements.
Street skating, on the other hand, is more based on everyday situations.
No German athlete will qualify in this discipline.
