Ben Arfa in Bordeaux, the story will have lasted only a very short season, as reported by the daily Sud-Ouest on Wednesday.
Landed in Bordeaux free of any contract at the end of the summer transfer window, the former Parisian, 34, will be left free by the Girondins on June 30.
By putting down his suitcases at Haillan, the striker had signed a one-year contract with another optional year with the Girondins.
But it turns out that this optional season was "conditioned on several criteria which were not met", confides the Bordeaux sports director, Alain Roche, in an interview with Sud-Ouest.

Decisive in the weeks following his arrival, Ben Arfa was hampered in his dynamics after returning from an injury at the end of January.
Subsequently, the attacker struggled to regain the pace, showing himself to be much less incisive.
As the season progressed, coach Jean-Louis Gasset gradually reduced “HBA” playing time.
In total, Ben Arfa has played 25 games, including 19 starts.
He only scored 2 goals and delivered 5 assists, all in the first part of the season last year.
Unless the future buyer of the Girondins expressly wishes to extend it, the left-hander passed notably by OL, OM and OGC Nice will remain there with his Aquitaine experience.
Trained in Lyon where he started pro at 17, Hatem Ben Arfa has worn the colors of nine clubs in his 17-year career.
Other players will experience the same fate as Ben Arfa.
Nicolas De Préville, at the end of his contract and without a proposal for an extension from the club, will be free on July 1, as will Maxime Poundjé and Vukasin Jovanovic.
As for striker Josh Maja, loaned to Fulham, the London club has until the 30th to exercise the option to buy but has indicated that he will not do so.
