28 years after TSV Eching, VfB Hallbergmoos will play in the Bayern League for the first time in the coming season.
- The last time a team from the Freising district played a game in the Bavarian League on May 12, 1993.
At the time, TSV Eching lost 3-0 at VfL Frohnlach, only to be relegated a little later.
A good 28 years later, VfB Hallbergmoos is now playing to represent the district on the Bavarian League map again.
With pride and anticipation, the team began preparing for the start of the league, which had not yet been scheduled, on Monday evening. Even the constant rain couldn't dampen the joy in the least. This training start was uncharted territory in several ways. The club is looking forward to the first Bayern league game in its history, even if the fixed date for the first league game is still missing. And: Coach Gedi Sugzda has to carefully build up his kickers after more than seven months of corona break. "It's a wonderful feeling to finally be able to smell grass again," said Sugzda on Monday evening when entering the field.
The experienced coach was especially happy for his players, whose period of suffering is over, who now wants to introduce the team to the higher level with a sure instinct without risking injuries.
He has a special plan for that.
"We are now doing a two-week acclimatization phase," says Sugzda.
Then there will be a first internal game before the preparation and test games really start.
Sugzda expects the season to start in mid-July.
Two new ones for VfB coach Gedi Sugzda: Felix Bachmann (left) and David Küttner.
The Hallbergers look forward to this with confidence.
You don't want to look at the table positions from behind up to the rank that means staying in the league without relegation.
"We don't want to play against relegation until the last day of the game," says Sugzda, "we want to establish ourselves in the league." He wants to ensure that the league does not see his team as outsiders, the new territory after the corona break does not come to him inconvenient.
The coach points to a time full of surprises because currently no club really knows where it stands.
During the first training session, he told his soon-to-be Bayern league players that "everyone now has to do something more consciously for football, because the Bayern league will demand more from them."
Two new ones are here, a third is still to come
A relaxed Anselm Küchle sat in the stands and looked satisfied at the squad. The goal of keeping the team almost complete was achieved. With Felix Bachmann from Allershausen and David Küttner from FC Unterföhring, there were two newcomers on the field, a third is to come soon. VfB doesn't have much more plans. "As a newcomer, you are always well advised to be a little humble," says Küchle about the Bayernliga, which VfB narrowly missed several times in seven years in the Landesliga with (among other things) three third places. The long-awaited promotion means, according to Küchle, “that for the first time we are not the championship favorites for the other clubs”. You don't have to win every game anymore. However, Küchle does not expect changes in the team's DNA: “We will always be hungry and we are horny for the Bayernliga. It is and remains the character of this team to always want to win. "
