Barcelona have submitted a new contract to Lionel Messi, several media outlets in Spain reported today (Thursday).
The Catalans have offered to flea out a contract for another two years, when in his third year he will have the option to move to the United States, where he will end his playing career, and then return to the club in a managerial role.
According to TV3, Messi will not respond to the offer until he fully understands what Barcelona's plans are for next season, and the club's economic uncertainty prevents this at this stage.
"Sport" claimed that a formal contract offer had not yet been submitted to Messi, although his father had already met with Juan Laporta and the atmosphere was positive.

After a rather failing season by its standards, Barcelona are preparing for next season and the first task of the new president Joan Laporta is to decide on the identity of the coach who will build the squad.
