Marcus Rashford has claimed to have received racist messages on social media after the Europa League final Manchester United lost on penalties to Villarreal.
“At least 70 (posts containing) racist slurs on my social media accounts right now,” the player tweeted shortly after the match ended.
“To those who go to great lengths to make me feel worse than I already feel, good luck making it happen,” he added.
In a second post, he added that he was "even more outraged by one of the insulters who left a mountain of emojis representing monkeys in my private messages and who is a math teacher with a public account."
He teaches children! ”Rashford protested.
A few hours earlier, the striker, known in particular for his action off the field to fight against malnutrition in children, had played the entire C3 final lost (1-1, 11-10 on penalties) of extreme tightness against Villarreal.

The 23-year-old is a recurring target for racist slurs online.
At the very beginning of May, all English football but also rugby and cricket bodies observed a four-day social media boycott to demand more drastic measures, both from the platforms and the legislative power, to fight against this plague.
