The transfer of Ibrahima Konaté from Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig to Liverpool FC is perfect.
The French central defender signed a long-term contract with Jürgen Klopp's team from July 1st.
This was announced by RB and Liverpool.
Neither club gave any information about the exact duration.
The transfer of the 22-year-old, who still had a contract in Leipzig until 2023, was made possible by an exit clause.
According to reports, this should be around 40 million euros.
»I had a fantastic time at RB Leipzig.
Now I am looking forward to my new chapter at Liverpool FC and of course I hope that we will see each other again on the international stage, «said Konaté about the change.
The Frenchman came to Leipzig in 2017 on a free transfer from the French second division club FC Sochaux.
In the past season, the injury-prone defender only played 14 times in the Bundesliga and played six times in the Champions League.
Konaté is the second central defender, next to Dayot Upamecano, who is moving to FC Bayern Munich, to leave RB in the summer.
To compensate for the departures, Leipzig has already signed Joško Gvardiol from Dinamo Zagreb and Mohamed Simakan from Racing Strasbourg.
