The Swiss motorcycle racer Jason Dupasquier, who had a serious accident in qualifying for the Moto3 class at the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello on Saturday, is, according to the doctors, in critical condition with "severe brain injuries".
The 19-year-old from the German team PrüstelGP was also operated on Sunday night because of his chest injuries.
Dupasquier is still in the intensive care unit of the Careggi hospital in Florence.

The Swiss is driving his second season in the motorcycle world championship.
After five races he is tenth with 27 points.
His team announced that they would not participate in the Mugello race because of the accident.
Jason Dupasquier fell with his KTM and was hit in the head by the motorcycle of the following Japanese Ayumu Sasaki.
Dupasquier received medical care for 40 minutes at the scene of the accident and then flown to the clinic by rescue helicopter.
The Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, front runner in MotoGP, dedicated his pole position to the Swiss on Saturday.
"I pray for him and his family," said the Yamaha rider.
