The competitions returned again to the horse racing track in Al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia after an 11-year break from the third periodic race gate set up by the Syrian Arabian Horse Association and in cooperation between the General Sports Federation, Lattakia Governorate and the Arabian Horse Office at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
The registered Syrian and Arab horses raced in seven runs, the first and second of which were allocated for a distance of 1250 metres, the third and fourth for a distance of 1000 metres, the fifth and sixth for a distance of 1,800 metres, and the last was for a distance of 2,250 metres.
The championship of the mentioned races was won, respectively, by the horses Agha Al-Olabi, owned by Muhammad Samir Al-Olabi, Makhzen Al-Saba’ by “Ibrahim Al-Saba’ and Akram Al-Khalaf”, “Berkan Al-Jabal” by “Maan Jaafar”, “Ward Al-Kharrat” by “Al-Kharrat Stud”, “Zelzal Al-Zein” by “Mohammed Deeb Al-Yafi” and “Al-Wasl” by “Issam Takle”. Al-Mahaini’s Word for “Moadh Al-Mahaini”.
The head of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, said in a statement to SANA’s sports reporter that the return of this race after a long break is a translation of the will to challenge that characterizes the Syrian people, and there will be more sports activities and tournaments in various games in Al-Assad Sports City in Latakia to gradually return to its former glory as it was a place For Arab and International Championships.
The director of the association, Eng. Muhammad Al-Wadi, indicated that the race had a wide participation of 53 horses of the first, second, third and fourth classes, and the contestants competed vigorously for the first places, which shows the good preparations for the race from the Arabian horse breeders, adding that the race comes within the annual race calendar of the association, which also included a race Another event in Lattakia in the coming period, in addition to the races that are held on the Damascus and Hama tracks.
