Sublime, sensational, strange… This Catalan Grand Prix offered an extraordinary spectacle.
The most consistent rider this Sunday, Miguel Oliveira (KTM) logically won, resisting a sensational comeback from Johann Zarco (Ducati Pramac).
The Frenchman, 6th at the start of the race, came very close to his first Moto GP victory and finished 2nd, ahead of Australian Jack Miller (Ducati).
However, starting from pole position, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) did not win a race that seemed to be promised to him as his domination was palpable.
Third after the first corner, 5th after three laps, the Niçois led a patient race.
Having taken the lead 12 laps from the finish, he thought of flying to victory, before Miguel Oliveira overtook him and a series of problems befall him.

Image of the day: Fabio Quartararo's naked torso
Scary, the sight of Fabio Quartararo's open suit is sure to cause headaches for the organizers of the Moto GP.
Four laps from the finish, the Habs saw his zipper burst and his chest protection drop.
Until the finish, Quartararo ran without having his chest protected.
In a good position to overtake Oliveira, Quartararo therefore slowed down.
With damaged tires, the Habs were even penalized three seconds for cutting a chicane, which deprived them of their 3rd place on the line to finish 4th.

Despite this bad luck, he preserves the essential: the head of the world championship. The Yamaha rider is still ahead of Johann Zarco. The two French could offer us a continuation of the exceptional season.
