In terms of performance classes, the Ampertal Open has never been as strong as this year.

TSV Allershausen and SV Kranzberg provided three tournament winners.

Kranzberg / Allershausen

- Even if there was a wave of rejections in the last days before the tournament due to the new Corona freedoms in Bavaria, it was the best Ampertal Open of all time. At the places of SV Kranzberg and TSV Allershausen there were top-class competitions for women and men - and also great successes in the age groups: Allershausen provided the winners in the women 40 and men 50, Kranzberg the winner in the men 40.

The men's competition was very strong - and from the point of view of the local heroes, Benedikt Wudi had a surprise in store: After his first round win against number three on the seeding list, Mateja Lazic from TC Dachau, the Kranzberg tennis player reached the final Saturday with three successes.

In the quarterfinals, Wudi had no problems in a 6-2 and 6-0 win against Marc Baumeister (Jahn Munich).

The defending champion and top favorite Maximilian Deml then waited in the semifinals: At 2: 6 and 0: 6, the Regensburg man was a size too big for the Kranzberger.

The tennis player, who is in performance class 1.7, won the Ampertal Open again this year without losing a set.

There was also a successful title defense in the men's 40 - in the person of Robert Faulent, district league player of SV Kranzberg.

As number one on the seeding list, Faulent first had a bye and then easily won his two matches on the way to the final 6: 1, 6: 1 against Fernaß Daoud (FCA Unterbruck) and 6: 0, 6: 1 against Thomas Opitz (Schweitenkirchen ).

In the final, the first seeded Faulent (performance class 7.1) and number two, Bernd Weindler from Weichs (LK 7.7), were statistically not far apart.

But in terms of sport, the game was a clear matter for the Kranzberger in view of the result of 6: 3 and 6: 1.

Lenka Fabritius from TSV Allershausen in great shape

Shortly before the start of the new league game season, Lenka Fabritius from TSV Allershausen presented herself in strong form in the women's 40 competition: She already made it in the semifinals with her 6: 2, 6: 1 win against number two Heidi Litschmann (HVB -Club Munich) for a real surprise.

At the same time, tournament favorite Annette Decker from TC Rot-Weiß Freising lost 3: 6, 3: 6 to Gabriele Thalmair (Langenbruck).

Fabritius won the final with a score of 4: 6, 6: 4, 3: 1 by giving up the opponent.

In the men's 50, Thomas Hüttner from TSV Allershausen was the player with the strongest nerves, as he won in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in the match break.

In the quarterfinals he defeated the top seeded Kai Zöllner (Kottern), and he won the final 6: 7, 6: 4, 10: 5 against Josef Rauscher (TV Nandlstadt).

There was an undisputed tournament success in the male youth U14 for Jonas Jungmeier: The talent of the TC Rot-Weiß Freising was number one on the seeding list and gave up just one game in three wins - he won the final 6-0 , 6: 0 against Fabian Altmann (Rohrbach), who was seeded at two.

Participants even from North Rhine-Westphalia

Tournament director Richard Hammerl regretted the short-term cancellations a little, as one or the other player wanted to go on vacation in view of the corona easing.

This was a problem, especially for the women, because the field shrank to six entries and the finalists were determined in two groups of three.

Nevertheless, in the end there were exciting competitions with almost 80 participants - and this time too, a load of men from North Rhine-Westphalia arrived.

In terms of performance classes, the tournament has never been as strong as this year.
