Several athletes from the district took part in the “Finals 2021”, namely in triathlon (Simon Henseleit), athletics (Johannes Trefz and Andreas Kölbl) and riding (Maximilian Lill).

We have an overview of their performance.

Simon Henseleit:

At the end of the bike split, Simon Henseleit didn't want to take any risks. The way to the transition area in the Hanns-Braun-Stadion had turned out to be quite tricky the day before at the women's triathlon championships. Due to a few steps, there were falls and collisions in the crowd. Henseleit stepped vigorously on the pedals, sat at the head of the leading group and reached his place without any problems, where he had to park his bike and put on his running shoes.

But he only held the top position for a short time, because the competition in the men's elite field ultimately turned out to be too strong.

In the overall ranking of the international German sprint championship, Henseleit took 14th place in Berlin.

The team athlete completed the 750 meters swimming (in Wannsee), 20 kilometers cycling and 5 kilometers running in 51:48 minutes.

In the field of 90 starters, he was eleventh-best German.

He himself was not satisfied: “A used day from the start”, he announced on the “Instagram” platform immediately after the race.

"I felt completely empty, tried and gave everything - not much came out."

Simon Henseleit is the first to go into the second transition area

Henseleit positioned himself well (8:16) when swimming. 18 seconds behind the leader, Tim Hellwig, he came out of the water in 25th place. He got on his bike 15 seconds behind the leading trio. In the course of the race, the chasing group merged with the lead. 14 athletes now formed the first group in which Henseleit also took part in the lead. The lead over the next group grew to around 30 seconds. Henseleit mastered the bike split in 26:13 minutes, making him second fastest in this discipline. When running, the man from Steingaden could not quite keep up with the top guys, but with 14:59 minutes (35th place) he still showed a remarkable performance. "I managed to secure a place in the top 15," said the man from Steingaden, who last convinced in the European Cup ..

Johannes Trefz:

He wanted, he fought - but as much pull as Johannes Trefz had shown in the semi-finals, he didn’t make it onto the track in the DM final over 400 meters.

The man from Weilheim was unable to intervene in the battle for the medals.

The deficit was already too big when it hit the home straight.

In the front, Manuel Sanders (LG Dortmund / 45.88), Jean Paul Bredau (SC Potsdam / 46.10) and Marvin Schlegel (LAC Chemnitz / 46.11) made the podium among themselves.

Behind them Trefz fought with the rest for a decent result.

The TSV Graefelfing athlete crossed the finish line in fifth place after 47.01 seconds.

Measured against the appearance on Saturday in the semifinals, that was a step backwards.

In the first of three heats Trefz had attracted attention with a season best of 46.53 seconds. The man from Weilheim, who celebrates his 29th birthday this Monday, started the race aggressively and soon ran into Ben Zapka (TSV Bayer Leverkusen), who started diagonally in front of him. On the home stretch and in the finish, Trefz left no doubts about victory and qualified for the final straight away. There, the German 400-meter champion in 2016, 2017 and 2018 could not repeat the performance.

Andreas Kölbl:

Andreas Kölbl was faster than everyone else - and that was a disadvantage. 0.096 seconds after the starting shot, the TSV Penzberg athlete started running in the 400-meter hurdles semifinals. The electronics rated this as a false start. A maximum reaction time of 0.1 seconds is allowed. After all: Kölbl only received the yellow card from the judges, so he was allowed to run again. He could not understand it: “I basically stuck and got off the starting block much worse than the others,” reported the man from Sindelsdorf. Kölbl succeeded in the second start - he was less happy at the finish.

Unlike in 2020, this year he missed the DM's entry into the finals. With a time of 53.48 seconds, he was 0.72 seconds too slow in the overall standings of the two semi-finals. "My legs felt really good today and I was able to put on real pressure," said Andreas Kölbl. "And that was exactly the problem." Because of his improved pace, he always came too close to the hurdles. As a result, he had to brake a little before each hurdle in order to have the right distance when jumping. That cost strength that he lacked in the second half of the race. “I know I'm in top form. Unfortunately I wasn't able to convert it into a new best time today, ”he said on the way home.

Maximilian Lill:

Maximilian Lill made no secret of his disappointment.

His mare "D-Cassina" was still galloping after the last jump, when the 27-year-old closed his eyes, pressed his lips together and turned his face towards the sky.

A facial expression that symbolized “Why the drops now?”.

As an aspirant for a medal, the show jumper from Antdorf started the fourth round of the German championship held in Balve. Lill, who has been living in northern Germany for some time, had five faults before the last ride. At the third obstacle, of all things, the one called “Finals 2021”, a pole fell. With that, Lills medal chances were gone. The fact that there was an additional drop at the tenth obstacle was only decisive for the list of results. There Lill appeared in 13th place with “D-Cassina”. The duo got 13 points after four laps. Anyway, Lill - most recently successful at tournaments in Italy - has once again proven that he is one of the extended top German show jumpers. In 2010 (in Aachen) he won DM gold in the Juniors,2015 (in Zeiskam) won DM bronze with the young riders.
