The largest arena is London's Wembley Stadium.

It holds 90,000 spectators and is reserved for a total of eight games.

The smallest stadium is in Copenhagen (Telia Parken).

Where spectators are present at the EM 2021 despite Corona: The venues

Since an EM without an audience was not an option for the organizers, it was decided to allow a certain number of spectators despite the corona pandemic.

This applies to the entire European continent, even to geographically remote locations in Russia or Azerbaijan.

The game is played in the following eleven cities (in alphabetical order):

  • Amsterdam

  • Baku

EM 2021 under the sign of Corona: the number of spectators

Despite Corona, spectators will pass the stadium gates at the 2021 European Championship.

The number of approved fans differs from venue to venue.

  • In London, for example, the stadium will be occupied by at least 25 percent, which means that at least 22,500 people will be able to enter Wembley.

  • In Rome, an occupancy rate of between 25 and 33 percent is planned.

    A maximum of 24,000 fans are therefore allowed in the Olympic Stadium.

  • Baku is planning a utilization of up to 50 percent.

    35,000 fans are therefore hopeful.

  • Munich has issued a quota of 22 percent, which allows 15,400 people to support the German team.

  • Saint Petersburg is aiming for 50 percent occupancy.

    34,000 fans should be able to enter the Krestowski Stadium.

  • A maximum of 33 percent of the ranks will be filled in Seville.

    This corresponds to a guideline value of 19,000 spectators.

  • The only venue with 100 percent occupancy is in Budapest, Hungary.

    The national stadium should accommodate 65,000 fans.

  • A maximum of 18,000 people will pass the stadium gates in Bucharest, which corresponds to a 33 percent capacity utilization of the Arena Nationala.

  • 33 percent of the total contingent is also permitted in Amsterdam.

    Here, too, 18,000 fans should be allowed to enter the arena.

  • Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland, is a bit more modest with a maximum of 17,000 spectators.

  • Even fewer visitors can only be found in Copenhagen, where the Danish authorities insist on a maximum of 12,500 observers.

EM 2021: Corona regulations for viewers

In principle, spectators can visit the stadium at the EM 2021 despite Corona. However, the regulations differ from country to country and do not allow full utilization of the stadiums at ten out of eleven venues. The actual occupancy depends on the individual infection situation on site. The respective requirements result from this. Individual state authorities reserve the right to send their visitors to quarantine, to limit their stay in time or to request current (negative) tests.
